The Ogun state police command on Thursday rescued a journalist who was kidnapped by gunmen.

Police said the gunmen abducted Oduneye Olusegun from Mobalufon area of ​​Ijebu Ode. His wife was later summoned to demand N30 million as ransom.

The command said they traced the victim’s car to the Idimu area of ​​Lagos, where officers engaged the gunmen in a shootout that lasted about 45mins.

“The victim’s car is soaked with the kidnappers’ blood as a result of gunshot injuries from the police team and rescued the victim unhurt,” SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police spokesperson said.
