A senior police officer’s 15-year-old son died in a fire at Falamo Police Barracks in Ikoyi, Lagos, during a fire outbreak.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, one of the command’s Police Public Relations Officers, stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ikoyi, learned about the tragic incident.

He stated that the DPO was informed that ASP Godspower David’s Room 24, Block 1 was destroyed by fire on Tuesday around 9:00 p.m. in the Bar Beach Police Division on Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the creator of the image, emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene for rescue operations in response to the report.

The fire was put out by the teams, but during the debris evacuation, the body of 15-year-old Emmanuel Godspower David, the officer’s son who was killed in the fire, was found.

He stated, “The corpse has been evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy while investigation is ongoing.”

In the meantime, on Thursday, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Mr. Isa Grema, visited the deceased officer at Falomo Police Barracks to offer their condolences.

Owohunwa, who was greeted by the officer and his wife, stated that he received the information on Wednesday with sadness and made the decision to personally visit them due to the significant loss.

The CP stated that the fire’s human casualties bothered him.

He gave N500,000 to cover the family’s immediate expenses and prayed that God would provide comfort. NAN)
